Wind Ensemble State MPA-May 2nd

Good afternoon,

We are excited to share our state MPA concert program with adjudicators and an

audience at Florida International University on Friday, May 2nd.

Please be prompt and follow the directions below:

Arrive

at Key West High School by 5:45am. Buses will load at this time

and depart promptly at 6:00am. If you require a pick up at the Big Pine

CVS or Sugarloaf Lodge, please email me ASAP by 3:00pm on Thursday. You

will be riding in the van or short bus if you will be picked up on SL (6:18am)

or BP (6:30am). YOU MUST MAKE ARRANGMENTS FOR YOUR INSTRUMENT AND MUSIC

TO AND FROM THE EVENT.

Students

must ride the school district transportation to the event. If parents are

picking up their student after the event concludes, an email or written note

needs to be given to the director before departure from KWHS. The student

and parent must see Mr. Hernandez before leaving the performance location-we

need to account for everyone. If the parent does not pick up the student

before our scheduled departure time, the student will return to KWHS with the

group. Students may be dropped off at Sugarloaf or Big Pine on our return

trip and must request this from their chaperone/driver, the vehicle will not

stop otherwise.

Wear

as much of your uniform as you can be comfortable in on the bus and be able to

change on the bus. There is no location for us to store cases/personal

items or change. Cases will be left on the bus.

Do

not forget your music or any part of your functioning instrument.

·

Bring

$10 or so to purchase lunch at FIU.

·

We

must be in warm-up by 10:00am. The performance is at 10:30am.

·

We

will be listening to several bands and begin our return around 2:00pm.

Wind Ensemble Concert, Thursday 4-24

Good afternoon,

We have our PreMPA Concert tomorrow, Thursday on 4-24. Students need to be on stage ready to play by 6:30pm, performance starts at 7:00pm. This will be a very short concert in preparation for State MPA. We will conclude before 7:30pm. No concession but donations will be accepted.

We still have the need for one additional van driver. Also, please let me know if you are traveling in your own vehicle and can take equipment. It is going to be very tight to fit everyone on one bus and two vans with equipment.

Jazz Band: Monday After School

Good morning,

Tim Mayer will be here on Monday 4-21 after school to run an improv clinic for our jazz band students. We will begin at 2:45pm and go until 5:00pm or so. Please let me know if you have an unavoidable conflict. We don’t get many opportunities like this.

Wind Ensemble-May 10th

Good afternoon,

We have been asked to perform for the commissioning ceremony for another Coast Guard cutter on May 10th, 11:00am. Please let me know if you will be UNABLE to attend this.

For those of you that played last time, we will have lunch sometime next week provided by the Navy League. We will discuss this tomorrow during class.

We still need two van drivers for our State MPA trip to FIU on May 2nd. I will be driving the bus and we will need two vans to accommodate the 60 students and chaperones attending the trip. Please sign-up here:
